The Journalism Department established in 2003, offers an extensive curriculum designed to transcend conventional classroom methodologies, thereby offering students a hands-on pedagogical approach. Through a variety of activities and initiatives, we aim to equip our students with practical skills and experiences that are essential for success in the field of journalism.

‘Envisage’, our regularly published newsletter, serves as a platform for students to garner invaluable experience in reporting and editing. Similarly, students engage in the production of podcasts and radio programs through ‘Vijaya Dwani’, along with practical training in filmmaking.

The department hosts workshops and guest lectures facilitated by industry professionals, providing students with insights into contemporary trends and practices within the field. Students are strongly encouraged to partake in internships at media establishments, in-house competitions, intercollegiate contests, and industry visits to gain first-hand exposure to the realities of the profession.

The department also offers specialised Photojournalism, Writing for Media and Feature Writing training as part of its Open Electives program. Students collaborate on projects such as creating a photo e-book and contributing to the college's annual magazine “Unmesha” and the college blog, thereby exhibiting their prowess in narrative composition and visual storytelling.

Utilizing practical endeavours and industry immersion, we aim to nurture students into proficient and principled journalists, poised to effectuate meaningful contributions within the media landscape.
